Nigerian singer Oludipe David, popularly known as Spyro, has stirred conversation online after confidently declaring that he would remain financially stable even if he decided to quit music today.
The “Who Is Your Guy” crooner made the statement during an appearance on the 14th Adesope Live show, where he spoke openly about his earnings, his unique brand, and the misconceptions people often have about his lifestyle.
Spyro explained that contrary to the general belief that artists rely heavily on streaming revenue or club performances to stay afloat, a significant portion of his income actually comes from performing at corporate events.
He revealed that his music appeals to a wide audience, including families, children, and high-profile individuals, making him a preferred choice for organisations seeking “clean” entertainment.
According to him, this steady demand has not only boosted his profile but also given him financial security that many listeners may not be aware of. He noted that his quiet personality often leads people to underestimate his success.
“If I stop making music today, I’m made,” he said confidently. “A lot of people don’t know that because I don’t brag.”
Spyro added that he has always prioritised making smart choices, both musically and financially. He highlighted that his modest lifestyle is intentional, stressing that he prefers peace of mind and long-term planning over the usual glamour associated with celebrity life.
This has contributed to the widespread assumption that he may not be doing as well as others in the same industry, but he insists that he is far from struggling.
The singer also opened up about deliberately positioning himself as a corporate-friendly artist. He explained that he rarely performs at regular industry shows, choosing instead to focus on events hosted by banks, big brands, and top business personalities.
One of his most regular clients, he revealed, is billionaire entrepreneur Tony Elumelu, who often books him for end-of-year functions and other exclusive gatherings.
Spyro further pointed out that this market works in his favour because only a few artists in Nigeria consistently produce clean, family-appropriate music.
He mentioned Chike and Johnny Drille as the other musicians who fall into that same category, saying that organisers usually call on them when an event requires musical content free of explicit themes.
He said corporate clients trust him because they know his songs are suitable for all audiences, including children.
This niche has helped him build a stable financial base, even when he is not actively topping charts or dominating social media conversations.
In addition to his performance earnings, the singer disclosed that he has made several solid investments that secure his financial future. While he did not list the specific ventures, he emphasised that he is intentional about building wealth outside the music industry.
Spyro’s comments have since generated reactions from fans, with many praising his honesty and strategic approach to building a sustainable career. Others noted that his experience highlights the importance of financial discipline and branding in the entertainment industry.
With his blend of humility, clean music, and smart financial decisions, Spyro continues to carve a distinct space for himself one that he believes will keep him comfortable, even if he never records another song.
