ovie Review: Radio Sunrise (2025)

Nollywood continues to redefine African storytelling, and Radio Sunrise  the latest 2025 release from acclaimed filmmaker Uduak Isong  is another shining example of Nigeria’s creative brilliance.

Produced by veteran filmmaker Emem Isong, the film has become an instant hit, crossing 1.1 million views on YouTube within days of its release on October 1, 2025, via Uduak Isong TV, which boasts over 735,000 subscribers.

Adapted from the award-winning novel Radio Sunrise by Anietie Isong, the movie tells the compelling story of Ifiok, a young journalist struggling to find balance between integrity, ambition, and love in a fast-changing Lagos.

Through his journey, the film explores the power and peril of truth-telling in a society where corruption, censorship, and moral compromise often collide.

The film’s visual authenticity  from its nostalgic 2000s Lagos setting to its vibrant cinematography — has earned widespread praise. Viewers have hailed it as “Netflix-worthy” and “a gift of pure cinematic excellence.”

Featuring a stellar cast including Maurice Sam, Bimbo Ademoye, Uche Montana, and Pere Egbi, the film captures emotional realism and cultural depth. One viewer commented, “This movie should be on Netflix  as a journalist, I felt every moment.” Another added, “The production quality is unbelievable for YouTube.”

Uduak Isong, celebrated for her emotional and socially conscious storytelling, once again delivers a film that is both thought-provoking and entertaining. Blending humor, romance, and political insight, Radio Sunrise offers a lens into Nigeria’s democracy and the daily struggles of those who risk everything for truth.

From its heartfelt performances to its powerful soundtrack  featuring Chris Zabriskie’s “I Am a Man Who Will Fight for Your Honor”  the movie resonates deeply with audiences, inspiring reflection and pride in Nigerian creativity.

Ultimately, Radio Sunrise reaffirms Nollywood’s global rise, proving that Nigerian filmmakers continue to produce world-class cinema that celebrates culture, resilience, and the human spirit.
