Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has been hospitalised following severe online backlash after a disagreement with veteran actor and director Afeez Owo.
The dispute started after Afeez, who is married to actress Mide Martins, commented on Wumi’s character in a recent film interview. Wumi responded publicly, sparking a wave of reactions on social media.
Her reply, however, drew heavy criticism from netizens, with many supporting Afeez’s analysis. The backlash quickly intensified, leaving Wumi as the focus of online trolling.
On Thursday, she shared a photo from her hospital bed, revealing how the situation impacted her health. In her caption, she wrote: “Internet dragging and ICU are siblings.”
She also expressed remorse over her earlier reaction and reassured fans she would approach similar situations differently in the future. “I have heard you all, will do better next time. Wish me quick recovery,” Wumi added.
