United States President Donald Trump has declared that he hopes Tyler Robinson, the man accused of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk, will face the death penalty if found guilty.
Trump made the statement during a live appearance on Fox TV on Friday, September 12, 2025, where he reacted with strong emotions to the killing of Kirk, who was shot dead two days earlier on the campus of Utah Valley University.
“He’s going to be found guilty, I imagine. And I hope he gets the death penalty,” Trump said firmly. He described Kirk as “the finest person” who did not deserve such a fate. “He worked so hard, and so well. Everybody liked him,” he added, paying tribute to the 31-year-old father of two.
