Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has extended a public apology to her colleague Mercy Johnson and Senator Ned Nwoko, acknowledging that her past actions and words — particularly on social media — were driven by emotion and caused unintended harm.
In a post on Friday, Angela admitted that recent personal experiences have led her to reevaluate her behaviour and the way she handled past misunderstandings.
“These past days have been a period of intense reflection for me,” she wrote. “Lately, having reminisced on certain events that had transpired, I can only thank God that I am alive.”
Pointing to her conflict with Mercy Johnson, Angela recognised that their issues — which played out publicly — were mishandled on her part. She admitted to reacting emotionally and speaking without fully considering the impact of her words.
“It’s no secret that Mercy Johnson and I have had some difficult issues circulating on social media,” she noted. “I am human, and when my emotions take over, I speak from the heart… but I realise now that my utterances, whether uttered from the place of pain or not, were hurtful.”
She added, “I feel so sorry having realized how this gets to you, Mercy. Your mental health is very important now and ever, and I wouldn’t wish you and your family worse… Do find a place in your heart to forgive me.”
Angela also opened up about recent challenges in her life, including betrayal, misinformation, and online attacks from bloggers and content creators.
“I’ve also been the target of lies, betrayal, and unwarranted attacks,” she said. “Bloggers have spread false information, and people have created videos filled with blatant lies… I forgive everyone who has hurt me and leave them to face their own conscience.”
On her past conflict with Senator Ned Nwoko, Angela apologised for reacting out of anger during a previous exchange. She stressed that it was never her intention to show disrespect.
“My sincere apology also goes to Senator Ned Nwoko. I understand that my anger in trying to make a reply didn’t find you in a good state… I truly reacted in a way I now recognise wasn’t pleasant.”
She recalled working with the senator in the past, including participating in his campaign and attending family events, which made the incident all the more regrettable.
“These shared memories have reminded me that peace is far better than conflict,” she concluded. “I deeply regret my actions and I am sorry.”
